Black Water
What you can't see can hurt you.

Off on summer holiday Adam, Lee and Grace head into Australia’s outback for some fresh air and scenic country sites. Once in the outback so to say, our trio of friends decided to take a boat tour and do a little fishing, but once their poles are in the water, our new friends and their boat guide are the bait, because there is something lurking just below the water’s surface that is twenty foot long and very hungry.

G’day me horror mates and welcome to Black Water, a tense and tight little flick inspired by real life events, that may make you think twice before heading out into any of ‘strailia’s swamps for a bit of a walk about.

Black Water is a damn fine little flick that deals with true life events that happened to a group of friends while on a recreational fishing trip. It’s a slow builder that plays out nice and slow with sudden impacts of sheer terror and thrills to be had by all, except for those that it happened to.

There is not a lot of blood or even a lot of kills in Black Water, but it is tense as hell at times. Imagine if you and two of your friends are stuck in a tree with a huge crocodile lying in wait just a few feet below you and now imagine the only way for you to escape is in a boat that is about thirty feet in front of you, just ahead of the aforementioned crocodile, what are you going to do?

That’s basically the question Black Water asks the viewer. You’re alone, stranded and no one knows where your at and your only hope of escape is just a few yards away, but one of the worlds most fearsome predators is stalking you just a few feet away and below. What would you do? Wait it out? Yell and scream? Or, when it finally comes down to it, would you just say “To hell with it!” and go for it? Well what would you do?

Like I said above there is not a lot of kills or blood in Black Water, but there are some damn fine moments of pure fear to be had for sure. The “croc prop” looks good as well, at no time did I not by the creature in this feature, as they show it just enough to make it believable and only show enough of it to back that idea up and it works in spades. At times, you really get the feeling that this beastie is there for a reason, almost like the characters have to face him, to pay for things they have done in the past.

I really liked this one and I loved the flow and look of the film as well. If you’re in the mood for a good tension filled horror flick, I think you should really give Black Water a look, you might like what you see.
