Masters of Horror: Pelts
TELEVISION
Reviewed by jareprime

Feldman’s Fine Furs is having a bad year and in fact if they don’t come up with a show stopping entry at the upcoming fur fashion show, they may close there doors forever. But when a couple of backwoods hicks offer Mr. Feldman some extraordinary furs they have come across, Feldman’s eyes light up at the quality of the pelts. But as Feldman begins to fashion his coat, strange things begin to happen, is it coincidence or is it something else?

Pelts is Dario Argento’s second contribution to the Masters of Horror series, and like much of his other works this one falls into the land of bizarre horror quickly.

Singer/actor hybrid Meatloaf plays furrier Jake Feldman, a big sweaty guy who likes going to strip clubs as much as he likes making fur coats. Out in the boonies an old woman lives in a cabin and has a ton of raccoons as pets. A couple of poachers, one played by John Saxon, trap and kill a bunch of these varmints and sell the hides to Feldman. Shana is an incredibly hot stripper who agrees to wear Feldman’s garment at the upcoming fashion show, but only after he tries to rape her. Meanwhile, back in the boonies an old set of ruins is glowing for some reason.

Did that make much sense? Well it didn’t to me either but that is pretty much Pelts in a nutshell. As a matter of fact if it wasn’t for the gore and the ass in this one, it would be a true disaster, but as usual copious amounts of skin and blood will keep you watching till the end.

In the end though, Pelts just seems pieced together and the sex and blood doesn’t help hold the shoddy story together well enough. It’s worth a watch, but not a purchase.
