The Sixth Sense
Not every gift is a blessing.
Reviewed by jareprime

Bruce Willis plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist who is about to have the case of his life. After returning home from an award show in his honor, Malcolm and his wife Anna are startled to find a former patient of Malcolm's in their bathroom. Malcolm ends up being shot and then the attacker turns the gun on himself.

A year later Dr. Crowe has become a sort of recluse due to his failure with the young man who shot him. Crowe gets a chance at redemption when he comes across Cole Sear (played by Haley Joel Osemet). Cole is a troubled little boy who has no friends and a deep secret he keeps from everyone. Cole at first is suspicious of Crowe not really knowing what he wants from him. As Cole begins to see more of Malcolm the two become fast friends and after Cole is attacked by an unseen force, Cole confides his dark secret with Malcolm. "I see dead people." is Cole's chilling secret.

Malcolm is at first in disbelief, but he soon sees that Cole is an extraordinary child with amazing gifts. There is also two very good side stories in the Sixth Sense. One involving Malcolm and his wife who are drifting apart since the shooting. And the second is the struggle between Cole and his working class mother Lynn and their troubles with young Cole’s abilities.

Although there is almost no gore this movie is filled with incredible tension and deep heavy dread. There are a few points that will startle you but the tension and relationship between the characters is the true heart beat of this movie.

The Sixth Sense also has the most incredible ending in the last ten years of movie history. A must see and a must own. Twenty years from now this movie will still hold it's weight.

10/10 Masterpiece.
