Silent Rage
Science created him, now Chuck Norris must destroy him.
Reviewed by jareprime

John Kirby was a man who had problems. He was mentally unstable and had very violent urges he fought to control. But one day John’s inner demons got the better of him and he killed two people. He tried to escape and was gunned down by local authorities, but before his body could be properly disposed of a trio of scientists conducted an experiment with John using an experimental serum. Once the serum interacted his genetic structure John’s lifeless body was born anew, and so were his dark impulses, only now greatly amplified. Now possessing regenerative powers and no control of his impulses he is the ultimate killer and he is on the loose and only one man can stop him…..CHUCK NORRIS!

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls of all ages let’s get ready to RUUUUMMMMBBBLLEE! Because Chuck Norris has finally come to HorrorWatch!

Laws yes you heard me right, Chuck Norris finally gets a turn on HorrorWatch as Chuck does battle with an unstoppable killing machine in 1982’s Silent Rage. Cashing in on the emerging, super killer, horror film, franchise killers like Jason and Michael Myers, studio executives decided that action megastar Chuck Norris, the only man to count to infinity twice, should have a chance to stop one of these bad boys and maybe start a franchise of his own, unfortunately that didn’t happen.

Silent Rage follows the cliché early 80’s horror formula to a T. You have the deranged regular guy who gets killed, then gets messed with in some way or another, comes back from the dead, gets to wear a cool ass jump suit, is stronger, faster and much meaner than before and then takes off on a bloody rampage to get his body count higher. The only difference in the formula is that instead of a teen virgin being the hero and foiling the nasty villain’s plan is that Silent Rage gives us a mega dose of testosterone by injecting us with an ultra amount of Chuck Norris, the only man to ever slam a revolving door, awesomeness!

Chuck plays Sheriff Stevens, a law official of a small town, as always Chuck takes no shit and is a by the rules lawman, after stopping Kirby in his first rampage, Chuck thinks all is well, but a couple of days later bodies and friends start piling up in Chuck’s little town, and before you can say “Walker Texas Ranger” Chuck is on the hunt of the unstoppable killer.

The characters in Silent Rage are all overly predictable and you know what’s going to happen to each one of them five minutes into the movie, but the killer Kirby is actually pretty creepy and very, very violent. Actor Brian Libby does a great job in the role and the fact that he uses his own face and not a mask or any make up actually makes him all the more scarier for some reason. The kills are mostly strength/physically based, the best being a head slam against a wall, but there is also a stabbing and even an injection of sulfuric acid to be had. There is some blood splatter at times but it’s mostly in the forms of blood squibs blasting through actor Libby’s jumpsuit as his character is shot quite often through the film.

Silent Rage also cashes in on the long forgotten T&A factor in horror films, there are at least three different set of breasts to be scene and a few scenes making it well past the 25 second mark. But don’t fret to much ladies, Chuck, who can make a woman orgasm by simply saying “Boo-Yah”, takes his shirt off and has two tender love scenes during the film. Don’t get to excited though, you don’t get to see any of Chuck’s junk, it’s not his fault though, there simply hasn’t been a camera invented yet that can pan out that far and still keep the scene of the film intact.

As you can expect the climax of the film ends in a titanic battle of good and evil between Chuck and Kirby, and you know after Chuck holds a dying deputy in his hands and listens to his last words of “He hurt me Sheriff, he hurt me real bad.” You know the bad guy doesn’t stand a chance.

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit and honestly it’s one of Chuck’s better films. It had a decent story and an ending with a promise of more to come and count ‘em, I say count ‘em 26 Chuck Norris round house kicks! Two of which are in slow motion and 14 of which happen in one bar fight that alone is worth a viewing wouldn’t you say? If you’re a Chuck Norris fan or even a Norris neophyte, this film is worth a look. Or if you’re looking for something that tried to blend genres and break the mold many years ago, then give Silent Rage a look.

6 of 10, ‘cause Chuck Norris rocks!
