Rosemary's
Baby

Pray

This
movie is about Rosemary (Mia Farrow), a woman who has to deal
with her husband's sudden acting success and a move into
a building that her friend says is a witches hangout. Oh yeah,
by the way, she was also drugged and raped by the devil and is
unknowingly carrying the spawn of Satan. She gets clues to this
and tries to get help but she finds out that those around her
cannot be trusted.
I had some difficulty determining whether or not I really liked
this film. I really liked Mia Farrow's performance as Rosemary.
She does a good job of making the viewer really feel sorry for
her. We can feel her pain in the first half of her pregnancy and
then her terror as she unravels the conspiracy behind her impending
labor.
I was, however, disappointed with the ending of the film. I will
not give a spoiler as to what happens because I do think this
is a movie worth one viewing. Again I was upset and others, I'm
afraid, will also be angry with the conclusion.
There is no blood or gore in this film but there is some nudity.
As to the nudity, I have trouble believing that the body I saw
naked was Mia Farrow's body. Only because she was very thin
and the body that was shown was fuller. There is also a sixties
style psychedelic rape scene. I would be remiss if I did not mention
this because I have some friends who get sick at the mere mention
of rape. For those of you in the same boat... consider yourselves
warned.
Overall, I would have to say that I liked this movie more than
I did not like it. The acting is good and the story is intriguing.
Try to borrow it from someone who already owns it or suggest a
friend to rent it and watch it at their expense. Whatever you
do, don't spend too much money on seeing this one.
