Predator
ALIENS

Soon the hunt will begin.

AHHH-Nold, plays Dutch, the leader of an elite commando squad, who are selected to go deep into the Costa Rican rainforest and rescue a US Cabinet Member. After arriving at base camp Dutch is reunited with a former friend and soldier Dillon, played by Carl "Apollo Creed" Weathers, who is now an administrator. Dutch and team get their orders and pack up and head out for the target point. As usual in this type of flick Dillon is hiding some secret agenda that gets figured out about 20 minutes into the movie. To make matters a little worse the team finds another special ops unit that have been skinned alive.

Who could have done such a thing? The answer is a 7'4” alien bad-ass who is drawn to heat and conflict for a little bit of hunting. As Dutch and team begin to make their way back out to the extraction point members of the team begin to get taken out one by one. When the remains are found each body is missing the head. The Predator continues to collect his trophies until it comes down to Dutch and him alone one on one winner takes all. So get a ring side ticket and enjoy the carnage.

I wanna say that the Predator is truly a good flick. You have the great action hero in Arnold and a tremendous monster. Who unlike today, is actually a man, Kevin Peter Hall, who also played Harry in Harry and the Hendersons, in a rubber suit. A GREAT RUBBER SUIT. From head to toe the Predator himself is a beautiful and believable creation. To me the creature seems a mix of alien high-tech and brutal native type savageness, plus ya gotta throw in a little rasta due to the dreads my man sports. The other thing I loved about this movie was the Predator's gadgets and mannerisms. The way we got to see "under the hood" so to say was great. That little clicking sound he makes, how damn cool is that? Not to mention the way he records sound bites and samples them faster than Moby. "Overhere." "Turn around." and that wild ass laugh at the end are terrific.

There is also one other thing about this one I love, the dialog. There is the main catch phrase from Arnold when the Predator removes his mask, "You are one ugly mother fucker". But the best two come from Blain played by Jesse "The Body" Ventura. One is after being nicked by a bullet, one of his teamates says "You’re bleeding man" Ventura spits and goes "I ain't got time to bleed", what a classic, which I'm sure most of ya know.

My favorite scene in this whole movie is when the squad is heading out in the chopper and Blaine offers everyone a chaw of his Redman. When everyone refuses Blain sits back and goes "What a bunch of slack jawed faggots around here, this stuff will make you a sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me." For some reason I just love it man. In all this flick kicks ass. Some may say more Sci-Fi, but it has a great monster and some gruesome kills.

This movie is an action movie with some sci-fi thrown in and it never came close to being scary. That being said, it was great at what it was. I really liked this movie for several reasons.

First, it remains one of Arnold's best movies. Give me the first 2 Terminators, Total Recall, both Conan movies, Commando, and this one and forget the rest. In an interview I read somewhere, he said this was among his favorites because it wasn't only him against forty or fifty men. It was a group of soldiers fighting against one being.

Secondly, I was enthralled by the Predator. It was a great and original creature. The actor who played it was spectacular in the way he moved and his other mannerisms. I was trying to spot him up in the trees along with the soldiers and I love it when a movie can move me enough to get involved.

Lastly, it had the best performance by a future Governer. "The Body" as he was known in his rasslin' days was great as Blain. He was the best kill when the Predator blows a tremendous hole through his chest.

The music is another thing I really enjoyed. The music really added to the emotion of the scenes. When the soldiers were in the chopper on the way to their drop and "Long Tall Sally" was blaring from a boombox, I felt like I was right there with them. And the theme music is one that has stayed with me since.

This and Terminator are the ONLY movies Arnold should have ever done. He just seemed horrible in everything else because people are constantly qouting on him from Terminator. Anyway, this movie was great. The overall design of the Predator was just great. His camoflouge powers and shoulder canon to his intergalactic head-hunter look and style. You can tell they really put some thought in when they came up with him.

I thought he could have came up in a better situation then during a war. But it played out well anyway, I think all the actors did terrific jobs. The visuals for the Predator were decent too. As well as the sound effects and the creepy laugh he made as trying to copy humans.

Not much gore here but some surprising attacks which will keep your attention up. I think it could have used a little amount of gore so it didn't seem so hollywood. Like the Predator pulling the skull from one of the soldiers or carring there head on his satchel or something would have been nice. But its definatly one of the best alien films out there. I can't wait till Aliens Vs. Predators (the movie) is released. I just know it'll kickass.
