For
the last eight years of his life Mike Pearson has been in a mental
institution, after the horrible events he went through culminating
in the death of his brother. Getting psychic messages from an
unknown girl, Mike plays along with the doctors to get his release.
Mike is quickly reunited with Reggie Bannister, the only other
person to believe what happened to him and his brother, because
Reggie was there. After a flaming homecoming by the Tall Man,
Reggie and Mike get armed and decide to hunt him down and put
and end to the Tall Man and his unnatural evil once and for all.
Basically a horror buddy flick, Phantasm II is very well
done. An older Mike and the still bad ass pony tailed Reggie hit
the road in search of the Tall Man. The trail is easy enough to
follow as the Tall Man heads to small towns, robs the local graveyards
of any bodies, and kills anyone who gets in his way.
After picking up a hot hitchhiker by the name of Alchemy, the
three finally come face to face with the Tall Man and his demented
jawas in a small Oregon town. Once in town, Mike meets Liz, the
girl who has been sending him little mental post-its. Now a foursome,
the group takes it to the Tall Man.
More gore and better effects make this one a fair flick, plus
some hot ass hitchhiker cooch makes for a pretty good flick too,
and Reggie knows how to handle that. And, of course, we also get
the return of the flying spheres this time with a few new tricks.
The gore in this one is sky high when it's there, only problem
is there are only about three good deaths. The plot flows good
and the ending is very creepy and pretty surprising, a very good
twist.
My only real complaint with this film is Reggie. Here's why.
Reggie the gunsmith that he is makes a quadruple barrel 12 gauge
in order to fight the Tall Man's hell spawn. The only problem
after firing this cannon, to a great splattering, he discards
the weapon! I don't get it, but it made one hell of a shot.
Violence, babes and silver balls, how can you go wrong?
