A giant crocodile has made its way to a lake in Maine, it
eats people.
I
love Lake Placid, the story itself is nothing special,
but the dialog and the characters make it really great. Im
not really a fan of comedy in general, but this flick is chock
full of sarcasm and dry wit, its the type of movie I consider
funny.
I
love Oliver Platt in a smartass role, he does it better than most
anyone, the conversations between he and the other characters
are priceless. The entire movie is carried by the dialog and the
quirks of the characters, and how well they were cast.
The
crocodile looks good. While never really scary, theres some
jumps to be had, but theyre usually played more for laughs
than anything else, as is the whole movie. This flick isn't going
to scare anyone except little kids, but that doesn't hurt the
finished product a bit.
A
good way to waste some time, Lake Placid is the type of
flick that Ill turn to anytime its on a movie channel,
and it never ceases to force a chuckle or two from me.
