If
you ever thought that someone should extend the scene/plot from
Evil Dead 2 with Ash’s hand becoming possessed and the hilarity
that ensued; then by golly it’s your lucky day! Idle Hands
takes extremity possession and rockets it to new heights. This
flick’s got tons of gore and a boatload of sick and twisted humor,
so if you’re the type of horror fiend who doesn’t mind laughs
with your splatter, you definitely need to pick this one up.
Anton (Devon Sawa) is a slacker/stoner who doesn’t do anything
more than sit on the couch smokin’ weed and watching television.
So Anton runs out of weed, heads over to a friends house and finds
out that there’s a killer on the loose in his hometown, a few
more deaths here and there and we’re off.
Needless to say, it’s Anton’s hand that’s causing all the trouble
and it’s causing all these problems with his family life, his
love life, his criminal record, and to top it all off he’s got
a hot druid and his satanic neighbor after him trying to vanquish
the evil in his right hand. Sounds goofy huh? It is, but in a
good way trust me.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that Idle Hands
is NOT a scary movie, but I hold it in high regard when placed
against other comedic horror gems like Return of the Living
Dead, and Army of Darkness. The gore is well done,
there’s plenty of it and the story is amusing. But what makes
Idle Hands such a blast is the exchange between Anton and
his two buds Mick and Pnub, (played by Seth Green and Elden Henson).
As I mentioned, the gore is well done and pretty prevalent throughout
the movie, the humor is priceless and keeps up for the duration.
A small bit of nudity, some scantily clad Jessica Alba, a killer
soundtrack and you’ve got a winner. I’ve seen it on sale at more
than a few major retailers for anywhere from $5.99 to $9.99 which
is a steal for a movie this fun. Highly recommended!
Drug possession Hilarious
dialog, great gore.
Demonic possession
One brief nude scene and it wasn’t Jessica Alba.
Review Rating: 9.5

After
watching this movie several times in the past month or so, I really
can't think of one bad aspect from beginning to end. I put
this movie right up there with Club Dread and Dead & Breakfast
with horror comedies that are priceless and will never get old.
When blending horror and comedy there is a thin line to balance
upon. This movie delivers flawlessly. The beginning with Anton’s
parents has a great genuine horror feel to it. After that, the
movie has a stoner, good time teen atmosphere which I enjoyed
a lot.
Mix in several kills, well done gore, a hot piece of ass, a couple
of zombie stoner buddies and you got yourself a can’t miss. Pure
horror fans will get their fix, comedy fans will get their fix,
men who just love seeing t&a will get their fix as well. Good
times overall.
10 outa 10 potheads where even getting their head chopped off
wont stop them from getting lit.
