The
streets of London are not safe, hiding in the shadows and preying
on the lives of whores is Jack the Ripper. When a close knit group
of friends who are also prostitutes are being murdered and viscously
butchered, Detective Fred Abberline is brought on to the case.
Abberline, who is a chronic opium user, has visions that sometimes
shows him glimpses into the future. As Abberline investigates
the murders, he soon stumbles upon a cover up that involves the
royal family itself. Before the Ripper can get to the last of
the five prostitutes, and end any possible dark connection to
the crown, Abberline must save the girl and expose the conspiracy.
A gripping story set at the dawn of the 20th century, From
Hell is twisting story or murder and myth. Written by comic
book scribe Alan Moore (Watchmen, Swamp Thing) and directed by
the Hughes Brothers, From Hell tells the legend of Jack the Ripper
and shows many of the possible myths that are associated with
story.
Johnny Depp leads the great cast as Fred Abberline, a man haunted
by his visons and his addictions. Robbie Coltrain and Ian Holm
add a touch of English class to the story and Heather Graham plays
the role of Mary Kelly.
A great cast and well paced story that mixes fact and fiction
about the legend of Jack the Ripper, From Hell is an outstanding
murder mystery that is dark and visceral.
