Demons 2
The nightmare returns.
DEMONS
Reviewed by WL Paynecraft

A movie on television causes a girl who is having a birthday party to turn into a raving demon. She then demolishes her birthday party patrons and they follow suit and turn into demons. All these demons bust out of the apartment and start raising hell in the rest of the building. The building is locked down pretty good and the victims can’t get out. This, ladies and gentlemen, is more or less Demons 2!

Yeah, this is a crazy Italian horror flick. I’m not really sure if any other building is affected by demons or not. I’m not even sure if the birthday girl was the progenitor of the demon outbreak, or if others were affected by the crazy television program. There is a storyline or two that is happening outside of the building, but they end up being totally irrelevant!

Sometimes a bite or scratch will turn you into a demon. Sometimes blood dripping on you will turn you. Sometimes you’re not sure what happened, but you turned into one anyway. Nasty stuff. I could really go on and on about all the crazy goings on in the flick, but I’ll stop for now.

Demons 2 is very similar to Demons. The plot is the same (demons attacking small group of people). The mode of delivery is the same (crazy movie of four teens wandering around looking for demons). The ultimate goal is the same (reach the roof). Even the crazy pimp guy from the original has a role in the sequel, albeit a completely different character. Both flicks have cool soundtracks. Lots of similarities.

I like how the group of humans gets over the initial fear of actually being attacked by demons and then start to really get their shit together. Add in the fact that half of the humans are bodybuilders from a gym in the building, and you’ve got some pretty inspirational assbeatings. The assbeatings go hand in hand with the great stuntwork in the car garage sequences. Bodies and cars flying everywhere. Fire and explosions. Good stuff.

Overall, the movie isn’t bad, but it doesn’t make much sense. It’s fun, but it doesn’t really add anything to the series. The gore is average. The demons look all right, but border on ridiculous from time to time. No nudity. Average acting. Asia Argento is in it, but is only a child. The original is better. I give it 6 out of 10 Ghoulie-like creatures. What the hell are they doing in this movie?

This review was fueled by Sobe Adrenaline and Schoolyard Heroes’ new album Abominations. Go check it out. It rocks!
