Dead Calm
In the middle of nowhere, there's nowhere to hide.
Reviewed by jareprime

After the death of their young son, John and Rae Ingram decide after a long period or grieving to chart a boat and set sail to heal their spirits and mend their broken hearts. Out on the water's waves the Ingrahms are enjoying a brief moment of peace, but all that is shattered when they meet Hughie Warriner, who drifts towards the Ingrams from his own desolate vessel.

Dead Calm is a slow building thrill ride that is kinda like a fun size version of your favorite candy bar. It kinda satisfies ya but you still want a little more.

Sam Neil plays John Ingram the straight laced and rather dry husband to Rae. Rae is played by the goddess herself, Nicole Kidman, whom I worship. Rae is the grieving mother who can't let go and whose life is going to shambles. Billy Zane plays the sheep in wolf's clothing Hughie Warriner. I have come to the conclusion that Zane can play a villain as well as any top notch actor their is. From Demon Knight to the wretched Titanic, Zane is a magnificent bad guy.

We also learn a little more about Hughie as the movie progresses. Most of the scenes revolve around Hugie and Rae, including one where Nicole has her panties ripped off to reveal an ass crafted by the finest angel sculptors that God could find. You know if divorcing a woman like Nicole Kidman doesn't prove your gay then nothing does. Yeah I'm talking directly to you Mr. Tom Cruise. Nicole if you ever need a groin, ah whoops shoulder to cry on call me.

For a movie that takes place mainly on two boats, Dead Calm does a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat with it's pacing and atmosphere. In the end however I just felt a little robbed, but the performances by the three actors and the appearance of Kidman's ass was enough to keep me satisfied.

5/10
