The Craft
Welcome to the witching hour.

Sarah is the new girl at Saint Benedict's Academy. Having just moved from San Francisco to L.A., she doesn't know anybody. After being burned by a boy on the football team, she is recruited by Nancy, Rachelle and Bonnie. The three of them need a fourth for their spells to work. After witnessing a little trick Sarah does, they offer her a spot. The four girls quickly form a tight friendship. With their spells coming to fruition, they don't realize that there is a dark side to playing with magic.

This movie is one of those moral tales about how power corrupts. But I don't really care about morals, not with the hotties running around in this movie. Once Neve Campbell stops wearing stuff that hides her body, she dresses like a little slut, and it's great! All the girls spend a majority of the time in school girl outfits. It helps enormously, because the beginning starts out kind of slow.

Things begin well, but the spells start going bad. As the girls try to fix them, they gain more power. It starts to drive Nancy, their unofficial leader insane.

There is no gore at all in this movie. The most you really get is some slit wrists with a little blood. No nudity either, but as stated above, do not underestimate hot girls in uniform. Even without gore or nudity, this movie was good. The girls are all interesting, and they aren't typecast. The usual witches are old and ugly, but here young and nubile is a nice change.

The effects are nothing special, just the normal stuff you would see in a "witch movie." But I doubt anyone watched the movie for special effects. It's all about the girls, and realistically, if they got naked, there would be no plot. That’s just the way horror films are made these days. That’s what makes this good, and not a sappy B-movie.
