Cheerleader Camp
Some girls would kill to be cheerleaders.
Reviewed by dingermtb

Alison, who strives to be the best, goes on a trip with her cheerleading squad to Camp Hurrah to compete in a cheerleading contest. After her boyfriend is caught flirting with other girls, those girls begin to turn up dead, starting with an apparent suicide. Suffering from delusional dreams and the pressure to be number one, Alison begins to question who the killer is. She even begins to question her own innocence, beginning to think she may be the killer. Is Alison the killer? Could the killer be one of the handful of suspects? Will there be any survivors?

One thing for sure. You can tell how the slasher genre has progressed since the 80’s. Filled with camp and having a predictable story, this is just another typical 80’s slasher flick. Not that it’s a bad film, it’s still fun to watch. But this is nothing compared to films like Sleepaway Camp.

The acting is decent, but there is hardly any blood in this one. But, this is filled with beauties, and you get to see a nice abundance of bare breasts. It’s unfortunate that you don’t get both worlds in this one.

This is your typical slasher plotline; kids go to camp, one kid is messed up, other kids begin to die. This story has been done time and time again. But still, as I said, that doesn’t make this a bad film. But others have done it better.

Still, it’s fun to watch, but if you are looking for blood and guts or chilling sequences, this isn’t it. Try the Friday the 13th series or the Sleepaway Camp series. If you have seen those, and just want something campy and fun, then try this one out.

All in all, not a bad movie. It just didn’t have that “wow effect” on me. A little too predictable and not enough blood. Still worth a rent though. Give it a try.

I rate this one a 6.5 out of 10 flesh slicing pom-poms.
