Wow!
I mean what can I say about a movie that’s about baseball…sort
of. I mean technically there is lots of baseball related storyline
here, but there really is no baseball to speak of. Battlefield
Baseball is near impossible to nail down to one single story
line or even a genre for that matter. It’s filled with Dragonball
Z type fighting and violence, very silly cartoon style gore, purposefully
goofy (albeit entirely amusing) blue zombies, and of course who
could forget the saccharine sweet diabetic coma inducing musical
interludes?
The story (brought to us by the same crew who did Versus)
is about the Seido High baseball team. You see, Seido High School
has a run at having a championship baseball season, that is until
they find out that their first opponents of the year happen to
be the zombie filled team that is Gedo High baseball.
All is lost until the coach of Seido finds a misunderstood loner
named Jubeh, who’s pitch is so badass he accidentally killed his
own father with it during a game of catch.
Battlefield Baseball is most definitely one of those movies
that if you go into it thinking you’re going to be wowed with
amazing special EFX and story, then you’ll be sorely disappointed.
If you’ve seen Bio
Zombie then you’ve got a slight idea of what Battlefield
Baseball will be like. Completely over the top acting and
overreacting. It’s about as goofy as they come, but it definitely
falls into the “so bad it’s good” style of horror.
If you like your horror goofy, totally unrealistic, and low budgeted
then it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find this one highly amusing.
I myself was amazed at the sheer lack of seriousness in the production,
but I’ll be damned if it didn’t entertain the hell out of me for
the duration of the flick.
Home Run Ridiculously
goofy (purposefully).
Foul Ball Could have
gone without the musical interludes.
