Evil Dead: Regeneration
GAMES
Reviewed by Marshal Earp

Enter Ash, our chainsaw-wielding superhero. He finds himself convicted of murder, sentenced to a life in an insane asylum! Though this horror is much better than what he experienced in the woods, he quickly learns the evil is stronger now than ever. Deep in the basement of his new residence, Dr. Vingo Reinhard has combined modern technology with the infamous book of the dead to fulfill sinister experiments of his very own! Determined to use this new found power, Dr. Reinhard unwittingly releases a new breed of deadite upon mankind! Who now will save us all from these unspeakable horrors? The one, the only KING, baby!

Let me start off by acknowledging that that the first two games were not fan favorites. I happen to love the piss out of both of the previous entries. That being said, fellow horror gamers, THIS is the game all Evil Dead fans have been waiting for!

The game combines the best ideas of the first two games: unstoppable action (Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick) and phenomenal storytelling (Evil Dead: Hail to the King) while adding the missing ingredients of phenomenal game play and a deadite dwarf sidekick that does your bidding! (I know the second part was not expected but MUCH appreciated)!

How about that sidekick you ask? Well first off, the voice of this hideous little mutant is done by none other than Ted Raimi (AKA Sam Raimi’s brother, AKA Henrietta) also dwarf deadite’s name is Sam (if you can’t appreciate the humor of that your not a true Evil Dead fan now are you?) Sam helps you fight your way to a deadite-free world. He accomplishes this by allowing you to punt him at will to the nearest enemy where he proceeds to pop their head off!

Are you sold on this game yet? Need more?

The game play is extremely easy to figure out. You have your trusty boomstick (with unlimited ammo!) and of course your hacked off chainsaw hand. You cut through the undead enemy with these weapons while constantly upgrading them into more entertaining dismembering tools. Did I mention that your most powerful weapon is transforming into EVIL ASH? Yup, that’s right, this time around kiddies you finally get to harness the awesome deadite power of Evil Ash!

As I mentioned earlier THIS is the game Evil dead fans have been waiting for! It’s damn near flawless with great homage’s to the earlier film, even the Rotten Apple Head from Evil Dead 2 has a starring role in this!

Do yourself a favor, go pick up a copy of this right now. If you consider yourself any kind of Horrorwatcher or gamer and you haven’t had the pleasure of playing this masterpiece, go pick it up now.

10 out of 10 times Evil Dead fans will FINALLY be satisfied
