They Hunger
BOOKS
reviewed by BQueen

Deep in the Appalachian wilderness a group of outdoor types are getting ready to test a new experimental raft for an outdoor gear company. A couple of them are experienced but others are just along for the publicity and have little regard for safety. On another part of the mountains a couple of FBI agents are tracking the “’Bama Bomber”, a man who bombs abortion clinics because God tells him to. When the agents accidentally hit a tripwire the bomber has set, they open up a hole in the ground and set something free. That something is definitely not good news for anyone.

Are you tired of suave handsome seductive vampires bringing the pretty and not much else? Are you wishing for vampires that look like monsters, are difficult to kill and give you a funny feeling in your stomach instead of your groin? Well look no further because they’re right here, waiting to eat you.

They Hunger is the latest novel from Scott Nicholson (The Home, The Farm.)

I loved these beasties. They were monsters with one thing on their minds, food. Hordes of leathery bad-like creatures swooping out of the sky; it doesn’t get much better than that. It’s a good thing I was rooting for the monsters since I didn’t care about any of the people. No one stood out as particularly likeable or even three dimensional.

Other than that I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and full of action and gore. Read this one for the monsters, not the puny humans.

(2007) Scott Nicholson
