How do I post a review?
Click "Submit a Review" in the main menu, and fill
out the form. We're not looking for "This movie was good"
comments. There's a forum for discussions, the reviews section
is just for actual reviews.
I submitted a review and it didn't appear, why?
Reviews don't appear until they're approved by the editor, this
is to keep them neat and keep spoilers out of the reviews. Sometimes
reviews aren't published for several weeks.
Please
note that we take the posting of reviews seriously, so "dude
it rox lol" will not show up. If you just want to talk
about the movie some that's perfect for the forums.
Some
other reasons might be you didn't bother to run a spellcheck
or capitalize the first letter of your sentences, or even write
in sentences. By doing these things you're saying "I can't
be bothered, you do it for me." I won't. It's unlikely
I'll put more effort into your review than you did.
Are spoilers allowed on Horrorwatch?
Spoilers are a big no-no. We want to avoid them at all costs,
if a review has a spoiler it will be edited or rejected. This
is the only censorship that exists on Horrorwatch, to protect
the integrity of the movie. Even if it's a bad movie that has
no integrity.
However,
spoilers can be posted and discussed in the forums, so long
as the title of the thread is "______________ - spoiler"
(where the blank is the title of the movie. If the thread is
just named the title of the movie = no spoilers. Lots of people
think that saying *SPOILER* in a paragraph makes it an exception.
You are mistaken, please read over this again.
I've had reviews on Horrorwatch but my name isn't on the Main
Contributors list, why not?
It's just not there yet. One review gets you a page and
a link, if you want to make the list you have to really put
some time into it and review some horror.
What are the legal aspects of the reviews I post on Horrorwatch?
Horrorwatch is set up to function as a magazine, and
the laws surrounding what we publish is based on that. When
you submit something to the site, you're basically granting
the site the right to first publishing.
So
when you submit something to Horrorwatch, you're granting the
site limited ownership of what you've written. By publishing
it, we do have a copyright on it and can keep it forever and
reprint it in some situations.
However,
it's a limited ownership. You created it and you own it forever,
with the only exception being what was stated above. You're
still free to post it on your personal site, other review sites,
use it in your book, it's all yours.
Can I email people for screeners or freebies representing Horrorwatch?
Absolutely not. No one can speak for Horrorwatch without the
consent of the Editor. If you want to talk to anyone or make
any deals, you first talk to The Horrorist about it.
