Suzi Lorraine

Ever since I saw her in Cold Blonded Murders I knew that she was destined for great things. Keep an eye out for her, chances are you're going to be seeing a lot more of her! She's got a scream that's meant for horror, incredibly good looks (obviously) loves the genre, and has a wickedly "campy" side to her. So without further adieu, lemme introduce Horrorwatch's very first Official Scream Queen, Suzi Lorraine!

HW: Suzi, you're Horrorwatch's very first Scream Queen, that kind of makes you the Queen of the Scream Queens on Horrorwatch. Your thoughts? How will you use your title? For good or for evil? (Evil we hope)

SL: Oh most certainly evil, what else would you expect? Mwaaahhhhh! I’m actually really psyched about the honor – that rocks.

Horrorwatch: What projects are you currently working on? I hear you're working on a rock band / werewolf movie. Sounds great! I'm also intrigued by your mention of "Rise of the Ghosts." Anything else we should be looking forward to?

Suzi Lorraine: Yes definitely! Both films you mentioned will be with SVBI Films, and I’m really excited about them. The first one is based on an all girl rock band who turn into werewolves at night, fur, claws and all.

I haven’t seen the script for “Rise of the Ghosts”, but hold onto your seats, I think it will be SVBI Film’s best to date! We will go into production in early-mid 2005.

Other than that, I completed roles in “Descend Into Darkness 2” with Vamping You Productions in Cleveland, “Day of the Ax” with 4th Floor Pictures in Pennsylvania, and “Satans Schoolgirls” with Grindhouse Junkies in New Jersey. All will be released later this year. In fact, “Satan’s Schoolgirls” will be out this weekend for the Monster Mania convention.

I’m also really proud of a music video I just completed for Danish Rahi (www.danishrahi.com). It will be completed in less than 2 months, and will air in regular rotation on MTV Asia. I play a robot, who is created by Danish’s character, and then a chase ensues as the bad guys try to get a hold of me…. It is chock full of action – really was like shooting a short film – in the end I end up taking a bullet for Danish, as the evil bikers try to shoot him to get to me…. It’s pretty neat. There’s secret agents and vampires too.
On the modeling front, I will be in the November issue of FHM Magazine (pictures and a short interview), and I just shot a print ad for Mamiya.

HW: According to the insert in the The Night They Returned DVD, SV said "Ok boyz'n'girls, remember, we're here to have fun first, and make a feature next!..." How true did he stay to that statement?

SL: Yeah that was right on target. Sv is a big fan of the horror genre, especially old ‘50s B movies and such… So it is fun for him, as much as it is work. And all of us got along so fabulously on the set, I couldn’t have asked for more. We are re-uniting to do “Rise of the Ghosts” – I can’t wait to work with everybody again. So yes, the shoot was a lot of work, but we’re all a bunch of goofballs, so half the time we were making jokes and cracking each other up.

HW: What was the most amusing, fun, hilarious part of filming "Night" Fill us in on some things that would have turned up on a "blooper reel."

SL: Well I think the best was where our sister Jess (played by Liz Faure) went into this “trance”, where she spaced out and had the ability to control other people. Well Liz took it totally over the top, I mean perfectly, eyeballs rolling, tongue hanging out, eyes crossing, she made the funniest damn sounds you’ve ever heard… And it was just impossible, absolutely impossible to do that scene with a straight face. So Melantha and I tried not to look at her, but we could still HEAR her, and it was an absolute riot. We had to do it over and over again. In fact, in the film itself, you can still see the smiles on our faces during that scene – we just couldn’t get thru it.

HW: Melantha Blackthorne, your sister-in-cannibalism in "Night" seems very serious and intense, good acting? Or is she really serious and intense?

SL: Oh my goodness, she is as silly and as much of a cut-up as me! We have a similar twisted sense of humor, so we got along fabulously. She’s really sweet and a great actor.

HW: How much blood would you estimate you ingested during the filming of "The Night They Returned" Did you ever start the day thinking "if I have to swallow one more drop of that blood, I'm gonna puke!"

SL: A gallon or 2 maybe…. And they told us there were all these harmless ingredients in there, but after (accidentally) eating so much of it, we realized there was definitely a good amount of liquid soap in there. Our throats were real scratchy for the rest of the day.

But no, I was so into the moment, and believe it or not completely engrossed in being Tawny Taggart (my character), that it was really very natural (gnawing on the blood and guts and stuff). I mean, this is just what Tawny would do, you know?

HW: Same question but with the intestines. What the hell were those things made of? Were they tasty? Looks like a good idea for a lo-carb diet. SV might be on to something.

SL: They were made of silicone, so therefore they told us they were safe to eat. Makes you wonder, huh? We had so much fun during that scene though – Sv just let us go and the entire scene was improvised. I just wish you guys could have heard the dialogue between me and Melantha – it was hysterical. A lot of it was cut from the final film too – there were scenes where I took a leg and smacked Melantha’s ass with it. And then we played baseball – I would lob a liver at her and she would hit it with an arm or a leg. At least you got to see me decide to use the intestines as a necklace – that was pretty cool.

HW: And speaking of intestines, you seem to have an affinity towards them. What movie is it on your site where you’re lying on the floor disemboweled? Looks gnarly!

SL: That movie is called “Descend Into Darkness 2” I actually played 2 different characters in that movie – both of them kick it in the end. The best role was Michele – I played this whacked out goth chick – just totally bizarre and wacky. I didn’t realize I was going to take the character in that direction until I put on my wig and it just seemed to call for it. This wig was black and stuck out in all these directions, also had a bald patch in the back… you gotta see it – it’s great.

HW: What was your most memorable death scene?

SL: I think my most memorable death scene in “Day of the Ax”. Really dramatic and crazy… I can’t give away too much though because it’s not out yet. It was definitely one of the “funnest” roles I’ve played. I decided to play the character with a southern accent, and just make her real silly and crazy and vulnerable.

HW: Ever pull anything or hurt yourself with those glass shattering screams?

SL: I actually broke a living room window in somebody’s house when I was working on “Countdown to Extinction”. The evil Satanists came to abduct me, and one of them throws me against the wall, and during one of the takes the glass shattered everywhere (outward fortunately).

HW: What's been your favorite on-screen kiss? Say Mike Gingold and this interview is OVER!

SL: Um, that’s easy. My boyfriend plays one of my victims in “The Night They Returned” (the one I kissed before I killed and after his character was covered head to toe in blood), so yeah it would have to be him, hands down. Yum.

HW: Being THE scream queen of the new generation, who was/were your favorite scream queen(s) when you were growing up?

SL: Definitely Jamie Lee Curtis, and Janet Leigh (incidentally Jamie Lee's mom) who played Marion Crane in “Psycho”, oh and Marilyn Burns, the lead actress in the original “Texas Chainsaw” rocked…

HW: What's up with Satan's Schoolgirls? Marc Fratto has obviously been too busy to keep me posted. What role do you play? I have bad nightmares of the nuns in Sunday school from my childhood. None of them looked as good as you though.

SL: Yes! “Satan’s Schoolgirls” will be released for Monster Mania in Cherry Hill this weekend! Yea! I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m sure it will kick ass. I play a twisted nun who really digs her authoritative position at this summer school…. I get to play such a bitch – it was fun. Wait til you see it!

HW: Any plans on going to the Horrorfind in Phoenix Halloween weekend?

SL: Maybe maybe the Chiller convention in October – I’m not sure yet…

HW: One last thing I've just got to know, what the hell is "Splooge, Chunky Pop With A Fizz?"

SL: Well it’s just like it sounds. Actually I have no idea. It was a CD cover I did for a band called Splooge. Their album is called “Chunky Pop with a Fizz”… A documentary of that band is actually in the works, so once it’s out I will have a deeper understanding of chunky pop with a fizz…

HW: Suzi, it's been an absolute blast! We look forward to seeing you in future projects, please be so kind as to keep us here at Horrorwatch updated on whatever it is you're working on. I'm sure that as talented and attractive as you are, you've got nowhere to go but UP!

SL: Thank you sweetie! Fun interview!
