Jason Voorhees, perhaps no other name can elicit such a response of dread and awe at the same time. For over thirty years the name Voorhees has been linked with murder and mayhem and responsible for well over 125 confirmed deaths and possibly many more. I was given access to interview files or written and audio text along with what little video footage was available in order to bring you this report. Taken from actual survivors and witnesses this is the tale of Jason Voorhees and the people of Crystal Lake. What started out as a sad and tragic death has grown into a bizarre combination of fact, myth and legend centered on the being that is or has become Jason Voorhees. The following report holds my account of Jason Voorhees, based upon my research and actual documented reports of those who have lived to tell the tale of an encounter with Jason. To the elite members of HorrorWatch I present to you Case File #00013, Jason Voorhees.

Our story begins in 1935 when Camp Crystal Lake was started by the Cristi family in hopes of providing wonderful summer memories to children between the ages of 8 and 12. The camp would run smoothly and safely until the summer of 1957. In the last part of summer an 11 year old boy by the name of Jason Voorhees would accidentally drown in the waters of Crystal Lake. Born in 1946 on Friday the 13th to Pamela Voorhees, Jason was said to be deformed and mildly retarded, perhaps a victim of Downs Syndrome. There is not much known of Jason’s family at this point. His mother had been working for the Cristi family for several years as camp cook and it is thought that Jason was brought to the camp with his mother during the summer to stay with her throughout the busy season. Pamela would blame Jason’s death on the fact that the camp counselors were not paying attention to him and that two who should have been watching Jason were having sex while he drowned. Though the lake was searched the body of Jason was never recovered. The following year in 1958 two camp counselors were murdered in the loft of equipment shed, after this incident the camp would close for four years and earn the nickname of Camp Blood an unfortunate omen of what was to come. The camp would try to reopen in 1962, but could not because the camp water supply was found to be poisoned. Camp Crystal Lake would remain silent for the next seventeen years.

THE FIRST CHAPTER “A Mother’s Love”

(Please note due to unknown reasons many of the last names in the files I was allowed access to were not available, except when mentioned.)

The following account of the massacre that took place in the summer of 1979 is given by Alice the only survivor of a two day massacre that ended on Friday the 13th, and left seven dead bodies sprawled along the landscape of Camp Crystal Lake. According to Alice, in 1978 Steve Cristi, son of the original owners received $25,000 in inheritance money after the death of his parents. Cristi decided to honor his parents and repair and reopen the camp. Alice and Steve who were romantically linked began work on the camp. Two weeks before the big grand reopening Cristi would hire six young people to help run the camp. This would include Annie, Brenda, Ned, Bill, Jack, and Marcy. All but Annie arrive at the camp on time, Annie who was hired to be a cook, would later be found in a Jeep with her throat slit.

A few hours after the workers arrived, according to police reports, an Officer Dorf arrived at the camp to tell Cristi that a local town crazy by the name of Ralph was spotted heading their way and to keep an eye out for him. No sooner does the officer leave until Alice and crew run into Ralph hiding in the pantry of the mess hall. Although he does no harm to anyone Ralph warns everyone of a “death curse” on the camp and then leaves on his bicycle. The group merely dismisses Ralph as a loon. As night settles in Cristi decides to head into town and pick up a few items. He leaves Alice in charge as he departs. In the span of the next few hours Alice would be the only person left alive.

As the night goes on the group begins to break off into smaller sections. Some go off as couples and others begin to play Monopoly. Alice states ”That a storm sets in and the power goes off and everyone heads off to secure their own private cabins.” It is at this time that Alice begins to find the mutilated bodies of her new friends. She states “Bodies were everywhere I ran outside when I saw a set of headlights coming up the road, I thought it was Steve coming back, I was so scared.”

However in the Jeep was not Steve Cristi. Cristi’s body would be found at the entrance to the camp stabbed to death. Alice continued “An older woman got out asking " What’s wrong dear?”. Alice said she took the lady inside and told her what was happening and showed her a body. “She began to talk about loosing her son Jason in the lake, he drowned” Alice said. “She then said her name was Pamela Voorhees and it was the counselor’s fault Jason drowned and that Jason was her special boy and only child and it was her fault he drowned and that today Friday the 13th was his birthday”.

Alice says at this point Mrs. Voorhees attacked her and tried to stab her. Alice would hit her with a gun and swat her with a metal poker twice. “She seemed to keep coming, I even hit her with a frying pan” she seemed to be possessed, for one may agree with Alice here. Alice would also say that as she was being pursued by Pamela that she would hear her at times saying “Get her mommy” “Kill her mommy, don’t let her get away” and perhaps the most interesting aspect of this was that she would reply to herself “I will, Jason” was this a severe form of grief or was it in fact Jason communicating to his mother or in fact controlling her? Alice, thinking she had killed Pamela, heads down to the lakes edge. While resting she happens to look in the water and see Pamela approaching from behind, the two wrestle for a minute until Alice breaks free and finds a machete on the beach used on one of the other counselors.

Being quicker, Alice gets to her feet and is able to strike a death blow decapitating Mrs. Voorhees there on the beach. “After that I got in a boat and pushed myself out on the lake, and that’s when the boy grabbed me and pulled me under the water” according to Alice. However when she told this part to Sergeant Tiernny and asked about “the boy, Jason”, Tiernny would reply “That there was no boy” however they did pull her out of the water. The police report does however mention that the head of Pamela Voorhees was never found. Pamela Voorhees was laid to rest at the Mountain View Cemetery and the headstone simply says Pamela Voorhees 1930-1979 At Rest.

Two months after her ordeal Alice seemed to disappear from her apartment, blood was found on the floors and walls, it is believed an intruder came in through an open window. Her body would be discovered five years later in a metal shack near the severed head of Pamela Voorhees. Alice was killed by Pamela’s long dead son Jason.

SECOND CHAPTER “Rise of a Monster”

After the death of Pamela Voorhees, Crystal Lake would remain quiet once again for nearly five years, then in the span of seven days three different massacres would once again bring the name of Voorhees into the limelight again, from here on Camp Crystal Lake would always be known as Camp Blood and the legend of Jason Voorhees begins. Packanack Camp, Higgins Haven and the home of the Jarvis family were soon to be in the path of one Jason Voorhees.

CAMP PACKANACK

Camp Packanack, located about half a mile to the right of Camp Crystal Lake, was a training station for anyone who wished to become a camp counselor. Operated by Paul Holt and his girlfriend Ginny Field, the center opened up with a group of eleven trainees. After settling in, the soon-to-be counselors are given one more chance at freedom before beginning three weeks of education. Paul, Ginny and five others head into town for one last night of fun, six others would remain at the camp. Before leaving however Ginny said “Paul had us all sitting around a campfire and telling us the story of how Jason drowned and his mother was killed. And how that over the last few years’ local people had said they seen Jason stealing clothes, food or whatever he needed in order to survive, while looking to find who killed his mother.” At this point Ginny said that Paul had a friend jump out and scare everyone to give everybody a jolt. Later on at a local bar Ginny remembers talking about what it must have been like if Jason would have seen his mother die and how he would feel. Ginny working on a child psychology degree would have no idea how this insight would soon save her life. Paul and Ginny tired and wanting to go back to camp and check on the others leave the bar a little early and head back to camp, what they arrive to would shock them to their souls.

On a personal note here, I do not believe Jason was looking for things to survive, for in fact he had been dead since he drowned in 57. Although not a “zombie” I believe Jason at this point to be more of something supernatural, not a demon but perhaps a living spirit. Upon their arrival back at Packanack, Ginny and Paul begin to find the power out and the bodies of the new recruits laid out across the camp. In one of the cabins Ginny says she knows someone is in there with them. While Paul has his back turned a figure moves in from the dark with some kind of weapon in his hand. “He was wearing a mask over his head like a pillow case, a flannel shirt and overhauls. He attacked Paul and I thought he killed him I ran and he followed after me.” According to Ginny she fought Jason more than once over the half hour “ I hit him, kicked him in the crotch, hit him with a chair and nicked him with a chainsaw .” Ginny also says that she heard Jason groan in pain a few times and that he appeared to have no superhuman like abilities at this time. “ I ran into the woods and he chased after me for about 15 minutes I guess. I came across and old metal shanty and I went inside to hide. Out of a makeshift window I saw him coming towards the shack. I saw another door and I opened it”.

Inside, Ginny would find on an altar of sorts the head of Pamela Voorhees surrounded by candles and sitting on top of the sweater Pamela had worn on her rampage five years ago. Also in the shanty was the body of Terry a counselor and the body of a dead police office. The decomposed body of Alice, who decapitated Pamela, was also found at the foot of the makeshift shrine. Ginny says “ I knew from the story Paul had told earlier that this was Jason’s mom and that this was no myth or legend at all but real”. Ginny said she put on the sweater and stood in front of the head. “I found a machete lying near the head. I put it behind my back as Jason bust into the room”. She says that when Jason saw her he stopped and looked at her. “I started to act like his mom, I kept telling him to kneel down and that mother was speaking to him”. When Jason got down Ginny raised the blade to try and kill him, but she said that he must have saw past her trick somehow and slashed her open with a pick axe. “Before he could kill me, Paul busted in and saved me. He knocked Jason down and I took up the machete and hacked Jason between the neck and shoulder, the blood poured”.

Ginny then says that her and Paul took off the mask Jason was wearing “He was very deformed the right side of his face was swelled it looked like and his right eye seemed to stretch around his face and his hair was long and sparse”. Ginny and Paul would head back to their cabin. Ginny remembers hearing a scratch at the door, Paul opens the door only to find a pet dog of one of the counselors. “Then all of a sudden I remember being yanked out of the window by Jason and hearing Paul scream” she says “Next thing I know it is morning and I’m on a stretcher being put in an ambulance asking how Paul is”. Police reports say nothing of finding Jason’s body, but the rest of the grisly scene in the shanty is exact as Ginny said, except once again the head of Pamela Voorhees was absent. On a side note to the Packanack Massacre the body of Ralph the town crazy from 1979’s incident was found strangled with barb wire outside one of Pacanack’s cabins.

HIGGIN”S HAVEN

As the day was ending for Packanack, Higgins’s Haven’s nightmare was about to begin. Chrissy Higgins and six of her friends were headed to her parent’s cottage for a weekend of relaxation, however that was not meant to be. Before they even get to the cottage they come across an old man sleeping in the road, they check on him to see if he is ok. He wakes up and tells them that he was given an omen, it was a human eye, and to tell people that something bad was going to happen. Soon after arriving at the cottage two of Chrissy’s friends Shelley and Vera have a run in with three members of motorcycle gang. Chrissy’s boyfriend Rick who does the upkeep on the Higgins’s house is also at the cottage for the weekend. “I was glad to be back and see Rick I had been away for awhile, since the attack”. The attack she spoke of happened two years prior to this incident at Higgins’s Haven. “I was out with Rick and we got home late, my dad was mad at me so I ran out into the woods. I sat down and waited, I heard footsteps and thought it was my dad, but then this horrible deformed man attacked me, I fought and kicked and got away, I thought he was going to kill me. I blacked out but when I woke up I was at home in my own bed, my parents and me never speaking of it again”.

Chrissy and Rick end up going for a little drive when they come back later in the evening they find the cottage in disarray and bodies of their friends all over the place. “Rick went outside to check the generator and that’s the last I saw of him, then this man in a hockey mask began to attack and chase me”. This is the first report of Jason in the now infamous hockey mask, it is not known how he gets it. Chrissy says that as Jason comes after her she is able to stab him in the hand and thigh and hit him upside the head with a piece of firewood. “He just kept coming” she said. She runs into a near by barn and climbs into the hay loft as Jason climbed up the stairs she hid. “I had a shovel, when he turned his back I kept hitting him until he was on the floor of the hay loft. Then I put the pulley rope around his neck and rolled him out of the loft door, hanging him”. Chrissy then said she made her way back to the main doors of the barn when she opened the doors Jason’s body was hanging there on the rope. “Then all of a sudden he moved, he put one hand above himself and with the other took off the mask, it was the same guy who had attacked me years before”. “then with one hand he freed himself and came after me. All of a sudden and out of no where this black man comes out of one of our horse stalls and attacks Jason”. While Jason was killing the surprise helper, Chrissy got an axe and when Jason turned around hit him square above the left eye. “It broke the mask and the axe went at least two inches into his skull, but he kept coming he put his hands out and took two steps after me until falling to the ground. “ I don’t remember much after this except pushing myself off in a boat and into the lake, I remember waking up and thinking I saw him coming after me with the axe still in his head and his mask off, but when I looked up again he was gone”.

Police Chief Scott Fitzsimmons was the first on the scene at Higgins’s Haven the next morning, the bodies of Chrissy’s friends and of three bikers was found strewn about the grounds. Also two local shop owners Harold and Edna who operated Crystal Lake Convenience were also found murdered. “this kid went through a lot, when we got here she was babbling hysterically, something about a woman in a lake. But at least she got the guy that did this and that’s an important part”. The body of Rick was found with his head crushed, by the looks of the damage it was said it was done with bare hands. This and the fact he lifted himself off a noose with one hand is more evidence that Jason is changing as time goes on.

THE JARVIS HOUSE MASSACRE

A name that will also become linked with Crystal Lake and Voorhees is Jarvis, mainly Tommy Jarvis, a young man who is the only the second person to survive multiple encounters with Jason, besides Chrissy. The main difference is that Tommy actually hunts down Jason at one point to a disastrous outcome, but that is another story. Before getting to the Jarvis Massacre there is first a small bit of information to relay.

On the night following the Higgin’s Haven slaughter police and EMTs are busy cleaning up the mess and bodies. The body of Jason Voorhees is taken to the Wessex County Medical Hospital Morgue to be examined. Now here is the first time that anyone has a chance to examine the body of Jason I am assuming that at the Higgins cottage that Jason was in fact pronounced dead at the scene. EMTs were sure to have checked for a pulse or vital signs, to no surprise they would have found none, like before not a zombie something more. According to Crystal Lake Police Officer Jameson “Jason was taken to the morgue, however after arriving about an hour later Jason’s body came up missing and the bodies of nurse and head morgue attendant Axle were found murdered”. There is never any mention of a suspect or even a body thief in any police reports. So I guess one can safely assume that the corpse of Jason Voorhees got up killed two people and then just walked away.

Now on to the Jarvis family, Tommy, his mother , his sister Trish and family pet Gordon a golden retriever, had been staying at their summer house on Crystal Lake near the popular swimming section called Crystal Point. Mrs. Jarvis who was going through a divorce brought her teenage daughter and twelve year old son to the lake to just get away for a bit. Next door to the Jarvis house was a cabin that was being rented by six individuals who were out for a weekend of fun. Needless to say this never happens. Trish would tell police the following “ There were six people next door a couple of guys and girls and they also ended up meeting Terri and Tina two local twins who came to Crystal lake every summer. And I met Rob the same day; it was later on that night when it all happened”. The young man Trish met was Rob Dyer who at first tells Trish and Tommy that he is up at Crystal Lake to do some hunting. However after Trish and Rob begin to find bodies of the happy campers next door Rob would come clean about why he was truly at Crystal Lake. “He said he was there to find the man who killed his sister, he had all of these newspaper clippings about the history of Camp Blood and said he knew who was responsible” Trish said. Rob’s sister was in fact Sandra Dyer a victim in the Packanack massacre. Rob had been following the news and was convinced that Jason Voorhees was behind the murders. Rob and Trish would leave young Tommy in the house while they went next door to look for any survivors. While they were away Tommy read all of Rob’s news paper clippings while hiding upstairs. While next door, Rob is killed and Jason attacks Trish. “There were bodies everywhere all of them were dead, then he killed Rob in the basement. I could hear Rob screaming He’s killing me, he’s killing me, it was horrible”. Then Jason went after Trish “He chased me upstairs and knocked me down, I ran back to our house to get Tommy”. “I knew Tommy would be up in his room so I headed upstairs to get him and that’s when Jason caught up to me”. “I was able to get a hammer and hit him with both ends of it and I smashed a TV over his head when he was down, I was also able to stab and slash his chest with that big knife he carried but he never stopped and never made a sound” she would report.

Tommy who was hiding in the closet watched this all “Jason came in he seemed to just be able to bust through walls and he started attacking my sister, when Trish ran downstairs I got an idea”. When Jason went down to get Trish, Tommy ran in the bathroom and quickly shaved his head and cut his pants legs off and headed downstairs. “Jason was about to kill me, when all of a sudden I heard Tommy screaming “Jason, Jason, remember Jason”. Perhaps at this instance Jason saw himself standing there the image would probably be the last he remembered of himself before his first death. When Jason turned to look at Tommy, Trish hit him across the back of the head with a wooden handle lying in the house. “She hit him so hard it knocked his mask off”, Tommy said “His face was horrible”. Jason would turn to go after Trish but Tommy grabbed the machete off the floor and hacked Jason deep into the left side of his face. “Jason fell and impaled himself on the blade, the hilt ran clear in to his eye, after that I grabbed and hugged Tommy”, Trish said “But then Tommy snapped, he pulled the knife out of Jason and just began to hack him across the back and head”. “Tommy was just screaming “Die! Die! Die!” as he swung the blade”. Tommy Jarvis according to police reports hacked Jason Voorhees 15 times with a machete in the upper part of his back and head.

Jason Voorhees was once again pronounced dead and his body taken away and this time buried in the Eternal Peace Cemetery. The bodies of 11 people were found the next day one of them happened to be Trish and Tommy’s mother. Not willing to let Tommy be raised by his sister and with the severe trauma that they both had been put through Tommy was sent to a state mental facility. It is believed his sister may have gone to live with their father.

Based upon the accounts of Tommy and Trish we can see how over a few day period, Jason’s power of body and endurance begin to take shape. Although his body was laid to rest, Jason Voorhees would not stay down.

THE PINEHURST MASSACRE 1986

Although this is not associated with Jason Voorhees it does have to deal with Tommy Jarvis. It also has one of the single biggest killing sprees in a 24 hour time span. Tommy Jarvis would arrive at Pinehurst Youth Developmental Center a place that specialized in trying to readjust troubled teens. Tommy had spent the last few years at the Unger Institute of Mental Health where he had been diagnosed as having violent behavior outburst. He was also on medication for having visions of Jason Voorhees alive and stalking him. Pinehurst was headed by Dr. Matthew Letter and Pam Roberts, there belief was based on the hopes that the small group of teens under their care could better themselves and become productive members of society again. There was no staff at the camp besides of one cook by the name of George who would bring his grandson Reggie to work with him on occasions. The rest of the work at the facility was done by those who lived there in order to show them responsibility.

On the day of his arrival to Pinehurst Tommy Jarvis witnesses the murder of Joey a mildly retarded boy who is axed to death by Victor J. Mc Fadden, both of whom were members of the Pinehurst group of teens. McFadden Kills Joey in broad daylight in front of many members of the group while chopping firewood. Joey’s mother had died in childbirth and there was no known father. Paramedics and police would arrive to clean up the mess. Over the next 24 hours 17 more people would lose their lives including the Hubards a family who owned a small farm near Pinehurst, a couple at a restaurant and Reggie’s older brother Demon, and his girlfriend Anita. These killings were done in a copycat fashion to the Crystal Lake Murders. The assailant even wore a hockey mask to complete his look, although his would have different markings, blue, compared to Jason’s red markings. Tommy, Pam and Reggie would end up stopping the murderer by using teamwork to knock him out of a loft and impaling him on a piece of farm equipment below. The murderer was revealed to be in fact the father of Joey who had been killed earlier by McFadden was only known as Roy. The Sheriff believed that Roy had been watching Joey grow up from afar. Roy was also a paramedic who arrived on the scene at Pinehurst and had to load up his own dead son. Police believed that Roy just snapped under the pressure, which lead to his rampage on the occupants of Pinehurst.

One interesting bit of information after this incident took place at a near by hospital. Pam Roberts who was the head assistant at Pinehurst said “Me and Reggie were at the hospital waiting to see how Tommy was; he had been hurt when Roy attacked him with a knife. I heard a crash and went into Tommy’s room I noticed the window had been smashed. I turned to go get help and Tommy was behind me wearing the mask Roy had been wearing and holding a knife at me. Although he did not harm me I was terrified”. As if Tommy Jarvis had not been through enough in 1984, he would have to endure this as well. But Jarvis would have one more dance with the devil before his nightmare would finally be over.

THE RESSURECTION

In 1987 almost a year and a half after the Pinehurst Massacre Tommy Jarvis would escape from his mental facility. Convinced that Jason Voorhees was in fact still alive, Tommy and his friend Allen Hawes head back to Crystal Lake to make sure Jason stays in the grave for good. Arriving at the eternal Peace Cemetery, Tommy and Allen dig up Jason’s body. It should be noted that the only thing on Jason’s tombstone is his name, no dates or anything else. Tommy’s plan was in fact to dig up the body and cremate it their in the grave. It is also a rumor that Jarvis still had in his possession Jason’s original hockey mask which he had somehow managed to keep hidden since 1984. According to Jarvis “Once I saw his body, I lost it. I ran over and grabbed a piece of metal rodding off of a cemetery gate and just began stabbing the corpse with it”. At this point Jarvis says that the body of Jason was dry and very decomposed, but that was about to change. According to Jarvis he went to get the can of gas to burn the body when lightning struck the rod sticking out of the corpse about three times. “It began to rain and I went over to see what had happened and there he stood alive! He reached over and just punched clear through Allen, I jumped in my truck and went to get help. Jason was back and more powerful than ever”.

Jason is now once again back from the dead and somehow made re-organic again. At this point Jason Voorhees has been quote on quote dead again for four years. This rebirth is not just a coincidence in my opinion, because also at this time Camp Crystal Lake is about to be reopened. Although I feel Jarvis may have jump started Jason a little early with the exhumation, I have no doubt that once the camp was reopened, Jason Voorhees would have risen regardless.

A lot had changed at Crystal Lake since Jason’s last little walk about in the area, mainly the name. Crystal Lake was now calling itself Forrest Green in order to distance itself from it’s bloody past, a tactic that would not work. Once again camp Crystal Lake is about to reopen, but this time it is Camp Forrest Green this name change would make no difference to Jason.

Tommy Jarvis would go to the Forrest Green Police Station and tell the Sheriff there what him and Allen had done. Sheriff Mike Garris would Deputy Pappas would be there when Jarvis arrive. According to the police ledger of that day Jarvis came in and was rambling about what he had done saying that Jason was alive. Jarvis would then lead Garris and Pappas on a chase back to the cemetery to show them that the body of Jason was gone from the grave. According to the ledger the gravesite was fine and cemetery caretaker Martin said “nothing was disturbed”. It was later found out that Martin had filled in the grave with Allen’s body so he would not get fired. Martin’s body would be found on a woodland road the next day with his throat cut by a broken bottle. After this Garris would put Tommy in a cell for the night to keep him safe and from spreading the rumor that Jason was back.

Mike Garris’s daughter Megan and some of her friends were the ones who were going to be the new counselors at the camp. They arrive to say hello to her dad at the station before going up to the old camp, it is here where Tommy tells them about Jason and gives them a warning to stay away. Megan and friends head to the camp anyway a group of about 25 kids is on it’s way there.

On his way back to Crystal Lake Jason would claim the lives of 10 more people this would include Martin, the caretaker, Darren and Lizabeth the two new head counselors who never reach the camp, 5 insurance agents who were playing paintball in the woods of Crystal Lake, and a couple Steven and Annetha who were found stabbed together on a moped, it is believed they were in the woods for an evening picnic.

Towards the later evening hours Megan would head back into the station to see if her dad had heard anything from Darren and Lizabeth. Once there after listening to Tommy and checking things out she would help Jarvis escape in order to save her friends. By the time Tommy and Megan get back to camp all but the children are dead. Megan calls her dad for help as Tommy goes off in search of Jason. Jason shows up and goes after Megan she tells the kids to hide under there beds as she leads Jason away. Sheriff Garris, Deputy Pappas and a State Trooper soon arrive at the camp looking for the escaped Jarvis, they however find Jason Voorhees. “I heard all kinds of shooting and screaming, then I saw Jason kill my dad” Megan said. The body of Mike Garris was found folded in half. “Jason came after me and then I heard Tommy yelling at him “Jason, it’s me you want remember me? Come and get me” Megan said. “He was out on the lake in a boat with a huge chain. Jason walked right out after him; I saw Tommy pour gas on the water and set it on fire.

He was moving around the boat looking for Jason when all of a sudden Jason leaped out of the water and crushed the boat pulling Tommy under with him. After a few minutes I saw Tommy float to the top, he wasn’t moving” Megan said. Megan would then take another canoe out and try to get Tommy when she reached down to get him Jason grabbed her and pulled her in the water. “He was so strong I could not get away, I got my hand free and he grabbed me by the foot I was able to get above the water line and found the motor of Tommy’s smashed boat floating beside me. I fired it up and ran the propeller into Jason’s face until it stalled out and he let me go” Megan would go on to say. Back on the beach Megan would have to give Tommy CPR to bring him back to life.

After this Tommy Jarvis seemed to disappear and no one has heard from him again. But this much was known in the truck that Tommy and Allen had stolen three books were found. [I]30 years Among The Dead, The Dead Alive and A Manual of Occultism[/I]. I hope that if any of you members of HorrorWatch have access to these books or have any info on the authors or subject matter that we may be able to correspond. According to Megan “Tommy put Jason back in his original resting place, the bottom of Crystal Lake”. She says that “Tommy used a log chain around Jason’s neck and a huge stone to anchor him to the bottom of the lake”. Jarvis must have found some passage in one of the books he read giving him an idea of how to stop Jason, it would work if only for a little while. It may be also noted here that if the police searched the lake, would Jason’s anchored body not have been easy to find? There is not even a report of such a search happening.

A FATHER’S LOVE: TINA SHEPARDS STORY

This Chapter of the Voorhees legend has a unique twist to it with the arrival of Tina Shepard, a young woman who is documented to have telepathic and telekinetic abilities of a great magnitude. I have yet to search our Horror watch archives for any information on Tina Shepard yet, however members The Horrorist and WL Paynecraft have said they would rummage through the listings and articles we have to see what they can find. The back story to Tina Shepard is as follows.

The Shepard family, Tina her mom and father, would stay at a summer home on the shores of Crystal Lake during July and August. The house was located across from Camp Crystal Lake. In the later half of summer in 1982 Tina’s father who was abusive to Tina’s mom, beat his wife in front of Tina after promising his daughter to never hit her mother again. Mad Tina ran to the pier and rowed out a little in a boat to get away from her dad. Tina’s father came out onto the pier and asked Tina to come back saying he was sorry. According to Tina’s psychologist Dr. Crews case files “This is the first time Tina’s powers would manifest themselves. She would cause the pier to shake and tremble then it collapsed killing her father”. Dr. Crews believed that Tina’s powers were triggered by her emotions and that she could not control what happened that day. After the death of her father Tina and her mother did not return to their Crystal Lake home until 1988 with the encouragement of Dr. Crews. Once again another body is lost in Crystal Lake’s waters and once again the body is never found. From this date in 1982 we will move ahead to early fall of 1988.

Tina her mother and Dr. Crews decide that Tina needs to go back to where her father was killed in order to see if she can sustain her emotions in order to focus her powers. Over the years Tina has developed some control over her telekinesis, there is even documented footage of her moving and manipulating items with her mind according to Dr. Crew’s notes found at the house. The house next to the Shepard’s is being used by a group of friends who are having a surprise birthday party for one of their pals. The house next door belongs to one of the party goer’s uncles and he let them use it. Outside as they are moving in Tina meets Nick a boy from next door and learns that it is his cousin Micheal that they are having the party for. Nick invites Tina over later for the party. “I guess there was about nine or ten people staying next door” Tina said. This may have been true but fifteen bodies would be found the next morning.

Later in the night at the insistence of Dr. Crews him and Tina become involved in a session. “He was really pushing me, and just would not stop” Tina said. “He kept bringing up the death of my dad; I hated him for doing that. I ran out to the pier that had been rebuilt and I just stared out at the lake, it was then when I felt the presence” she said. According to Tina this presence called her and because she was angry she let her mind go and could feel something happening in the water. I remember calling out “Daddy?” she said “And then I saw this man in a mask burst from the water and that’s when I fainted” she continued. The presence in the lake was Jason Voorhees and using her abilities Tina broke the chain that Tommy Jarvis had put around Jason’s neck almost two years prior. This chain fragment would be reported on Jason on more than one occasion. Tina went back into the house and told her mother and doctor what happened, Crews would tell her that it was just guilt over her fathers death and a delusion. Unfortunately for the people next door it was no delusion, Jason Voorhees was back.

While sitting in her room Tina would have a vision of the man from the lake killing a young man. While talking to Nick later who mentions to her that his cousin Micheal and his girlfriend never showed up for the party, Tina asked if Nick had a picture of Micheal. “I knew it was him before I even saw the picture” she said. Tina would have another vision of Jason killing her mother, which would also come true. Nick and Tina head back to the two houses to see if Tina’s visions were true. Along the way Tina saw Jason standing in the middle of the road. “I could not believe what I saw”, Nick said. “Tina looked up at a power line and made it tumble down on Jason, it fried him” he said. Tina and Nick would then continue to the cabins. “We found bodies and parts everywhere, but when Melissa opened the door, there he stood” Tina stated. Melissa a member of the party group opened the door to leave believing Nick and Tina to be lying. When she opened the door Jason was there and buried a hatchet in her forehead. “If Tina had not had her powers we would have died that night” Nick said. “She was able to fight him off so many times” he added.

According to Nick at one point Tina seemed to crushing Jason’s head by pure force of will. “His head was oozing this slime and then his mask blew in half right off his face. His face was horrible it seemed to be eaten away and grey one of his eyes were totally gone and the face was all deformed. The Tina pulled an electric cord from the ceiling and tried to hang him, but he was to heavy and fell through the floor and into the basement” he said. Tina says that then Jason sprung up and grabbed Nick “I went down stairs and used a bunch of nails to distract him, then I poured gas all over him and used the fire in the furnace to ignite him, he caught the whole basement on fire” she said. It is not known how she used the nails or caught Jason on fire speculation would suggest her powers were involved. It should also be stated that Tina said you could see through Jason in spots. By this she meant you could see bones in his back and huge tears in other parts of his flesh, yet there is no blood. Tina and Nick make it out of the house seconds before it explodes. “We went down to the pier, I know Jason was in the house when it went up, but then there he was again, he pushed me down and grabbed Tina” Nick said. “Jason began to pull me down the pier” Tina said, “Then my father rose up from the water put the chain back around Jason’s neck and pulled him back into the lake”. “I don’t know what happened, but something did and somebody did pull Jason in the water, after all I saw that night anything was possible I guess” Nick said.

Police and fire crews arrived early that morning. Neither Jason or Tina’s father were found. The only thing reported along with the dead was a hockey mask found in two pieces at the front of the Shepard house. The body of Dr. Crews was found disembowel with a weed eater near a work shed of the Shepard house as well. This story only adds more questions about Crystal Lake and the deaths surrounding it. It brings to mind many of the tragic tales and stories that surround the town of Castle Rock located in Maine, for more info on that subject see the Horror Watch files.
