From Pamela to Jason to Roy, even if you add in Tommy Jarvis and Tina Shepard the next incident involving Jason Voorhees is the strangest by far. Near the spring of 1989 the Graduating class of Lakeview High School is celebrating by charting a cruise ship and going to New York City for a weekend of site seeing. The motor vessel Lazarus, what a fitting name indeed, was charted by teacher Colleen Van Deusen, to take the students on their trip. 25 students had signed on for the trip; although two would not make it to port the boat would indeed garner another passenger that no one had bargained for, Jason Voorhees.

Before the bulk of this incident, there is the question of how did Jason Voorhees rise from the bottom of Crystal Lake again? And once again information is low and speculation is high on how this occurred. The most common known explanation is as follows. Two students, Jim and Suzi, who were scheduled to go on the cruise never made it. What is known is that Jim was using his parents boat the Lady Drifter the night before. The boat had been docked in Crystal Lake near where the old camp was. The bodies of Jim and Suzi were found the next morning on the boat both murdered. It is also reported that Crystal Lake Electricity had to respond to major power outages stemming from an underwater cable lying near the former campgrounds. Did Suzi and Jim somehow cross Jason and the power source? Tommy Jarvis as we know once saw Jason brought back to life by lightning, so this is very plausible somehow. To further support this theory power workers said they did find and anchor entangled in the underwater cable. Which was also near a sign that had Camp Blood wrote across an old Camp Crystal Lake sign. But the most prominent fact is that there was a stone also near the sign and anchor. Although there was no chain or body, I feel it is safe to assume that Jason was tangled in the anchor and cable and when the electricity went out at Crystal Lake it went into Jason Voorhees. Jason must have stayed on the Lady Drifter as it drifted with the current which would have lead him to the Lazarus. Once in port Jason could have got on board and hid by many different means. My question is if Jason was back, why didn’t he stay at the old campgrounds? It is where he would have felt the most at home.

Before the boat even set sail a ship hand gave the kids and teachers a warning. “The trip is doomed” he said survivor Renne Mc Culloch said. Once on the boat Jason would kill over ten students and the ship’s Captain and First Mate. Sean Robertson said “He killed my dad, who was Captain; we began to see so many of our friends dead we thought for sure we would not make it off the boat”. A Coast Guard Cutter would receive a distress call from the Lazarus; however the boat would sink before ever reaching New York Harbor. Only Renne and her Uncle Charles, who was her legal guardian and a teacher, Sean Robertson, teacher Colleen, and class mate Julius, would make it off the boat alive in a life boat. All other passengers were killed by Jason or drowned when the ship sank. No bodies were recovered but Sean and Renne do give a list of the ones they know Jason had killed (See appendix A). The five would after a day at sea eventually drift into New York Harbor. Once at the pier they figured they were safe “We turned around and then he was there, right behind us, it was unbelievable.” Sean said, “And then things got worse” he added.

Before going any further there are a few thing that need to be touched upon that happened on the boat and to Renne when she was younger. First from Renne “My parents died in a wreck when I was younger so my uncle Charles became my guardian, he was ok most of the time. But on the boat I was knocked overboard and Sean saved me I can’t swim. But as I came too I remembered being on Crystal Lake and my uncle telling me about a boy named Jason who drowned years ago, and that he would pull down anybody who did not know how to swim. He then threw me off a boat; I was scared and thought he was trying to kill me. But I swear that down in the water I saw a weird looking boy trying to grab me.” I’m not sure if I believe Renne here, the fact that her uncle told her this right before he threw her in the water probably made for this image. But what she goes on to say interested me greatly. Renne said from the moment she got on the Lazarus she would hear voices saying “Help me” “Don’t let me drown” and “Mommy”. Renne would also report having several visions while on the boat and in New York. The visions started out as seeing a small regular boy always in water. “I had four or five dreams or visions and each time the boy began to get more and more deformed and violent. At one point I swear he tried to choke me.” Renne said. Was Jason communicating with her in some form? Or was the fact that being surrounded by all of the water while on the boat had Jason afraid in some way? These questions may never be answered. One last thing that happened on the boat according to Sean was the ship hand who warned them that the trip was doomed came back later and said that “You are the last ones and your all gonna die!” First there was Ralph, then a vagrant with an eye speaking of omens and now a ship mate who now mentions some kind of blood curse. It seems that at each stage of Jason’s after life there is some kind of prophet crazed or sane that blurts out sermons on what is to come.

Now, to quote Paul Harvey, is “The rest of the story”. As soon as the five survivors reach the pier and see Jason behind them, Renne is abducted by two street thugs, welcome to New York. “They took me and gave me a shot of something, they were going to rape me and the drug made me passive. I heard one of their names it was Jo Jo or something like that. But before they could get to me Jason showed up and killed them both. Sean found me and we ran away.” Renne said. Sean then stated that they all had split up to find help to save Renne and when they finally came across a cop they were in for a surprise. A police officer Colleen, Charles, Sean and Renne all jump into the cruiser to get away but what they find inside is Julius severed head sitting on the dash looking at them. “This is the last time I would see my uncle alive, me and Sean ran into Times Square and Colleen got away and made it back home alive.” Renne said. The body of Charles Mc Culloch was found upside down drowned in a filthy garbage can.

Sean and Renne head into Times Square where Jason would follow them. There would be a few reports of a large man in a hockey mask walking the streets. This also brings up the question how did Jason get his mask back? It was said to look like the original red marked mask complete with gash over left side of the eye. Renne and Sean would run into the Times Square Restaurant and ask for help. According to them they asked for help but no one did, Jason then burst through the brick wall of the restaurant and kicked the ass of a large cook who was there. This matches up with police reports of this incident as there were many witnesses in the restaurant. Sean and Renne would escape into the subway system with Jason in pursuit. “We ran onto a subway train and Jason followed I pulled the emergency cord to stop the train. I and Sean then hopped off the back of the train; Sean ducked around the corner of the train and tripped Jason as he came to the back. He fell onto the subway power tracks and took all the volts.” Renne said.

Sean and Renne then made there way into the sewers to find a way to get away from Jason. “We were wandering around when this sewer worker came out and asked us what we were doing down there, he also said that the tunnel was about to be flooded by toxic waste. Then Jason came from behind him and killed him with a pipe. I tried to help but Jason hit me knocking me out for a time.” Sean said. “I ran around the corner and found a bucket that said TOXIC on it.” Renne said. “When I heard Jason near me I pried off the lid and threw it in his face. He made this horrible screaming noise and he began to throw up what looked like water, then his face began to melt away. I then ran back to get Sean because I could hear the tunnel beginning to flood.” Renne said. The two tried to climb up through a sewer lid but Jason was able to grab unto Renne’s leg. “He had a hold of me, but then all of this water came pouring in it smelled so bad. Jason was swept under it and you could see pieces of him floating away and his body was smoking. Sean was able to get the lid off and we were able to climb out. I looked back one last time and saw the body of a small boy lying on a grate and shivering. When I looked back again he was gone.” Renne concluded. Renne and Sean would live through their adventure and make it back home. The body of Jason Voorhees was once again never found. It is also reported at about the same time Jason Voorhees was swept away in the toxic flood that New York City experienced a massive lightning storm.

This incident leaves many more questions about the powers or abilities of Jason Voorhees, but here are a couple of facts that I would like to point out. One, Jason Voorhees is more than living or dead. He has become something wraith like. He apparently has abilities to link with people on some psychic level or to at least communicate with them. I do firmly believe that Jason had some control of his mother during her rampage in 1979. There is also evidence that Crystal Lake itself may hold many secrets in its murky waters.

Bodies lost in the lake never seem to be found and the lake seems to hide and perhaps even protect Jason, even though it was there that he lost his mortal life. Another point is the mask. The mask of Jason seems to be on him at all times I feel that it and the machete so often used on his victims have become fetishes or talismans for Jason and may be items he needs to be linked to the physical world. Last but not least is Jason’s physical body itself. It seems to be somewhat regenerative in the least and almost indestructible, almost I say because this leads us into the next chapter.

REVELATIONS

Crystal Lake would remain quite for a few years. The camp was finally torn down in 1991. Jason Voorhees would not be seen again until 1993 and this time they were ready for him. Jason once again appeared out of nowhere. In my opinion it took his corporeal body this long to reform from its total destruction in the sewers of New York. I strongly feel that the tiny pieces of Jason’s body took over four years to collect themselves after being washed out to sea. I also feel that the body would have reformed slowly over all this time and not have been finished until it reached the waters of Crystal Lake. If there is in fact blood in Jason’s body it is probably the waters of Crystal Lake. Jason would appear again totally formed with mask and machete, but as I said this time they were waiting for him.

An FBI agent had been set up in a cabin on the grounds of old Camp Crystal Lake she was being used as bait. From this point this tragedy would take place over five days and would result in Jason’s single highest body count to date. “I was up at that cabin for almost two years, waiting for that psycho to finally come after me.”, said FBI agent Elizabeth Marcus. “For two years we had the trap set with me as the bait, every night I went to bed wondering if this would be the night.” She said. The plan was simple enough Agent Marcus only had to escape Jason and lead him to the ambush point that was set up in a small clearing about 100 yards from the cabin. “He finally showed up and it was such a rush. I was able to get out of the house and the brute followed me. Once I got to the clearing, it was all she wrote.” Marcus said. At the clearing over 20 other agents were lying in wait in fox holes and in tree stands. Once Jason came into the clearing Agent Marcus dived to the ground and two large search lights came on in an instant illuminating Jason’s large frame. In the next few seconds the FBI hit Jason Voorhees with everything they had from pistols, assault rifles to shotguns. “Through all the bullets he still stood there taking it all.” Marcus said, “Then the mortar shell hit him and that was that.” she added. An artillery squad a few yards behind the ambush site fired three rounds at Jason the third shell found its mark and blew Jason’s body to bits. The body parts were collected and delivered to the Federal Morgue in Youngstown Ohio.

At the morgue Jason’s body is kept under high security. The head morgue attendant named Phil was the first to examine the body. I was able to listen to a small section of the autopsy recording and found some very interesting information. Phil would say on the tape that Jason was about 6’3, 240 pounds and had been shot over 100 times with many different caliber weapons. It was also noted that he had deformities and tissue damage over most of his body. The head and heart were said to be in tack however, the hockey mask still on the head. The heart is the key to this however. According to the tape the heart was twice the size of a normal heart and appeared to be full of a black viscose fluid. At this point the tape goes blank but not before you can hear what seems to be the sound of two heartbeats. How could this be possible from a dead heart? What happens next is almost unthinkable. Another morgue assistant is found dead in the examination room, along with two federal agents who were outside guarding the door, the decomposed body of Phil would be identified later. When the room was later searched the heart of Jason Voorhees was said to have had bite marks in it. Once again Jason Voorhees is able to call out to another person and now he has a new ability, body jumping.

According to American Case File, a television tabloid show, they report that there have been more deaths, 5 in fact, on a direct path from the morgue to Crystal Lake. Jason was heading home. Case file anchorman Robert Cambell also claims to have an exclusive interview with Creighton Duke, a well known bounty hunter. In an interview Duke says “What you think of as Jason Voorhees is not Jason.” Duke would then go on to say that for $500.000 he would kill Voorhees and deliver the body to Case File. Cambell would agree to the bounty and pay Duke his fee if he offered up proof of Jason’s death. Crystal Lake was in for one more showdown with Jason Voorhees.

Since Jason’s death was so apparent Crystal Lake was hoping to become a successful summer camping resort, once again. Many local merchants were also cashing in on the death of Jason. For instance at Joey B’s a local eatery you could find everything from a Voorhees Burger to a side of Jason Fingers. It would be here where Creighton Duke would make his first move. Joey B’s was ran by a small family and had two waitresses on day shift one named Viki and the other was Diana Kimmbel. It was Diana Duke would have interest in. A minor altercation with the Sheriff Ed Landis would end Duke up in jail, but would also help him out. The following night Diana Kimmbel would be found dead in her apartment apparently stabbed by her daughter Jessica’s former boyfriend Steven Freeman. “I did not kill her. Diana told me to come over to her house that night she had something to tell me about Jessica, so I went. When I got there Josh was trying to kill her, I stabbed him and he was already shot in the head. He fell out of the window but not before he killed Diana. When the Sheriff came in he thought I killed Diana and put me in a cell next to Duke.” Steven said.

Josh, Steven speaks of above was a police officer in Crystal Lake and was in fact possessed by Jason, but we will get to that in a minute. While in the cell next to Duke Steven learns some shocking news and so do we all. “Duke told me that Diana’s last name was not Kimmbel but in fact Voorhees and that Jason was her brother. This meant that Diana, Jessica and our baby Stephanie were the last blood heirs of the Voorhees family.” Steven said. It should also be noted that Duke stated “Through a Voorhees was he born. Through a Voorhees may he be reborn. And only by the hands of a Voorhees may he die.” I don’t know where this information came from but it seemed to hold true. Duke also told Steven that the bodies Jason was jumping in and out of were weak and that he needed to get back in his original body. Another fact was also revealed at this time Duke would also tell Steven that Jason Voorhees was born to Elias and Pamela Voorhees. This is the first mention anywhere of the name of Jason’s father. It was also always thought that Jason was an only child. If Creighton Duke had this information then it must be out there somewhere any assistance in searching for this information would be greatly appreciated. Duke then tells Steven to get to the Voorhees house and try to find anything at all that could help them.

At this point in time Jessica Kimmbel returns home for the funeral of her mother she returns with her and Steven’s baby and her new boyfriend Robert Cambell. “At this time I believed that Steven had killed my mother, when I got to the house Viki was cleaning the blood off of the floor. Viki would take care of Stephanie for me while I took care of some things for mom.” Jessica said. Meanwhile Steven was able to get out of jail by tricking a friend of his, Randy who was on the force. Steven arrived almost at dark at the Voorhees house. “I went inside and it was very old and run down. There was a table in the middle of the room and candles everywhere. There was also this weird book on a table that seemed to have a face on it; it was old and written in blood I think.” Steven said. When I presented this fact to the Horror Watch Inner Circle, before I made this mass copy available, circle members Nflames and Misfortune seemed to leap out of their seats. From the description I was given they claimed that the book may have in fact been the Necronomican AKA The Book of the Dead. Which had last been mentioned at a cabin overrun by demons in the Tennessee mountains, where the only survivor was a man named Ash (See sub section Evil Dead in Horror Watch Archives for any other info on this subject you may need.)? At this time Steven said “I heard foot steps coming so I hid in a closet, the floor was so rotten I fell half way into the basement. As I was in the closet the body of Diana fell onto me then through the hole and into the basement, I wanted to scream but couldn’t. Then this guy came in talking on a cell phone about how he was gonna push the ratings of his show through the roof...”. It was Robert Cambell he had stolen Diana’s body from the morgue and was going to use it to cause Jessica to have a breakdown on national TV, his plan would not happen. “Robert was standing there when Josh bust in the room he held Robert down and leaned over him. Then it looked like he was kissing him but this black worm like thing went from Josh into Robert.” Steven said. Then Steven stated that he watched as Josh’s body seemed to melt in front of him “He just looked like he was turning to goop.” He said. Then Steven said that Robert stood up and headed out the door. “That’s when I knew I had to get to Jess quick.” he added.

About an hour later Jessica would pull into her mother’s house, in the garage Robert/Jason would be waiting for her. Jessica says “Robert grabbed hold of me he was so strong, but he looked so wild, I broke free and ran outside. Robert came out but Steven hit him with a car. Steven would run over Robert one more time. He would throw Jessica in the car and tell her everything he knew about what was going on. “I though he was fucking crazy.” She said, “It made no sense, when he stopped the car I hit him in the nuts and pushed him out of the car. I then drove straight to the police station”. At the station Jessica began to tell Sheriff Landis about Steven killing Robert, but then Robert/Jason entered the police station and all heel broke loose. “They must have shot him 10 times, I even put one in his head, but he kept coming. I asked Jessica where the baby was and she said at Joey B’s with Viki. Me and Jess left the station and went to get the baby.” Steven said. At the station the next day the bodies of five officers were found. It should also be noted that during that night’s ruckus in the jail Creighton Duke managed to escape.

Jessica and Steven made their way over to Joey B’s to get the baby when the owners saw Steven who was still wanted for murder, they held him at gun point. Jessica went back to get the baby. “I heard all this noise and gunshots’, Jessica said “I could not find Stephanie but in the makeshift crib they had for her I found a note that said, I HAVE YOUR BABY COME TO THE VOOREEHS HOUSE ALONE – DUKE. I left right away.” She said. “As I was out front Robert bust in through the door and began to kill everyone in the restaurant. During the commotion I ran to the back and caught sight of Jess, just as she was leaving. I began to run to the old house.” Steven said.

By the time Jessica got to the house, Duke was there waiting on her. He tells her the story of her birthright and about her baby’s. He also told her about being born, reborn and killed by a Voorhees. “Duke was sitting there with my baby and this big knife. He said “Catch” and threw me the knife. When I caught it the knife turned into this really old looking daggers with weird engravings. He said that is what I needed to use to kill Jason, by stabbing him in the heart.” Jessica said. Then according to her they heard a car pull up Duke went to see who it was and fell into a trap door set in the floor and ended up impaling his legs on something. “Just then Ed and Randy came in the door, Duke started to scream “Kill them Kill them both there not who you think!” Randy and Ed were both telling me to put the knife down, but then Randy saw the baby and pushed Ed into me, I could not move the knife in time and accidentally stabbed Ed. I dropped the dagger and it went under a cabinet.” Then as accounts go Randy/Jason took the baby and was standing over top of her with his mouth open, but Steven ran in with a machete and lopped off Randy’s head. Randy’s headless body would fall to the ground. “That’s when I saw this thing,,, It had arms and a head but a body like a snake. It squirmed out of the neck of Randy’s body, hissed and jumped at me. I caught it and threw it into the basement.” Steven said. By this time Jessica had helped pull duke out of the basement “That’s when we heard the noise” Jessica said “Steven then looked at Duke and asked “Does the Voorhees have to be alive?”. The body of Diana Kimmbel/Voorhees was lying dead in the basement. The body had been but there earlier by Robert Cambell. The creature must have crawled inside of Diana Voorhees and with that Jason Voorhees was reborn yet again. “ All of a sudden this huge man busted up through the floor, he was wearing a hockey mask and old clothes, and his body was very ragged.” Jessica said. “ He immediately went for me and the baby, but Duke had handcuffed himself to Jason and a piece of furniture, we were just out of Jason’s reach” she continued. Then according to Steven and Jessica Duke yelled at Jason “Do you remember me?”, then Jason turned from Stephanie and Jessica and folded Creighton Duke in half killing him. Steven lured Jason outside and beat him with a shovel to no effect, “I knew if he hit me once I was dead, but I got lucky and was able to keep away from him. That’s when Jess came up from behind and stabbed him in the chest.” Steven said. Then according to them both small red flares of light began to leave Jason’s body, with an open shot Jessica was able to kick the dagger clear into Jason’s chest. “All of a sudden there went this big flash of red out of Jason’s body, and this bright light shown down on him from the sky. Then smaller blue sparks began to come down and go into Jason.” Jessica said. Then huge stone and earth hands sprung up all around Jason and pulled him down into the ground according to both once again. “And then there was one final spark and a shower of blue lights, and that was it. He was gone.” Steven added. There would be no report of the body being found once again.

Amazing! There are so many questions now. Like, Are there any more Voorhees children? Why was the Voorhees house booby trapped? Where did all the occult items come from? What was the relationship between Creighton Duke and Jason Voorhees? What about Elias Voorhees? Also this once again supports my theory of Jason being more of a wraith or perhaps now even a demon? He is able to jump bodies, how? And what of the little creature inside of him, was it just Jason in yet another form? Also when Jason was reborn he came out mask and all, this would also show he is linked in some manner to the mask. I have no answers yet only guesses. I am sure we will have much to debate and discuss in the coming weeks my friends.

CLOSING COMMENTS

I have presented to the facts and the fiction as I have observed and researched them. I hope this will quench your thirst for information for awhile, to some I know it will only make you hunger for more. I have enclosed two appendix in this report for you all, A list of known kills and means of death and B a timeline of Crystal Lake as near as I can pin point it. I hope you enjoy.

I want to end by saying that Jason Voorhees is far more than a legend or myth he is simply a force. After all you have just read there are now many new paths to explore. Is there a blood curse on the children of Crystal Lake as mention by the ship hand in 89. Or is in fact Crystal Lake itself the cause of all the problems. We never know but we must continue our search for the truth.

BREAKING NEWS!

I know this is late but a major scoop has just been emailed to me by an unknown source, I only hope this reaches print before the case file goes out. Apparently in 2003 Jason Voorhees made a surprise appearance at 1428 Elm St. That’s right, the same house. Two teenagers, a Will Rollins and Lori Shepard are telling anyone that listens to them that Jason Voorhees and Freddy Kruger battled it out in Springfield and Crystal Lake leaving over 30 dead in their wake. The police tried to keep it covered up by drugging all involved with a drug called Hypnocill. Will and Lori were able to escape the Weston Hills Mental Facility and are now telling their news to all media. I am packing my bags as I type this any members who wish to lend a hand and help me uncover the truth email, call, or meet me in Springfield within the next 48 hours. I will update when I know more.
