As
many of you readers know, I have been impatiently awaiting the
arrival of the Macabre/Erotica title known as Slaughter Disc
ever since Director David Quitmeyer sent me the script to read.
The script itself was amazing, and I was curious to see if the
movie could be pulled off with the same amount of shock and
intensity that the script had on me. Needless to say I was floored
with Slaughter Disk(insert link to review here), they really
did it, Director Quitmeyer really pulled it off. However, I
don’t think that this movie could have been remotely as good
had it not been for the casting of adult film star Caroline
Pierce as Andromeda Strange. Pierce pulls off evil, creepy,
and wickedly erotic in spades. Before Slaughter Disk was released
Caroline agreed to an interview with Horrorwatch so I could
pick her brain about her ridiculously sexy and viciously sinister
role as Andromeda Strange. Enough rambling though, please welcome
Caroline Pierce to Horrorwatch!
Horrorwatch: How much of a blast was the role of Andromeda Strange?
Caroline
Pierce: I have been in this business for many years, and now
I have found where I belong!!! See,David Quitmeyer didn't
know this when he was writing the script, but he was writing
it for me!!! Heh-heh, kidding...kinda.... Honestly, this is
a dream character for me.
HW: Director David Quitmeyer says he has a slew of ideas lined
up for his “Carnal Morgue” label. How hip would you be to reprising
the role as Andromeda?
CP: If it happens, I am soooo
there! Bring it on! Who dies first? Line up boys and girls!
Muahahaha.....
HW: Any interesting Slaughter Disk “extras” to look forward
to? Anything we’d expect to end up on a blooper reel?
CP: I am not sure what all was
put on the disc. There are extras. Easter eggs. There is a "blooper
and out takes" section. I imagine the out takes of me screaming
at the actor that played Mike is on there. See, sometimes it
takes people a little while to warm up to giving a good, believable
scream, and I wasn't convinced by his first try, so I started
shrieking his line at the top of my lungs so he could scream
along with me and get warmed up. It was pretty funny.
HW: You’re no “fly by night” run-of-the mill adult film star,
you were voted “ Most influential porn star” by Hustler magazine
in 1998, and from what I gather, you’ve been on hiatus from
the adult film industry for a while, what drew you to the role
in Slaughter Disk?
CP:
Actually, it was a list of the 50 most influential people in
porn of the time. I was "the future of porn," :all
natural body, un-Barbie, pierced...you get the idea. As for
the hiatus, it never happened. I was just doing other things
(dancing, internet, fetish) and the next thing you know, a year
has gone by without making a porn movie. And I have never been
overly active in the biz. It has taken me 8 years to make the
amount of movies I have done, instead of whipping them out in
6 months.
HW: “Caroline Pierce” not just a clever name, exactly how many
piercings do you have, and which was the most memorable to get?
CP: I have 21 piercings. My most
memorable on to get would have to be my left inner labia. It
was originally done on stage at a Genitorturures show. I didn't
actually want it, but they needed someone to get it as part
of their stage performance. My girlfriend actually wanted the
piercing, but was too chicken to do it, so I said "What
the Hell." So I got it. Didn't keep it, but then decided
I actually liked the idea of it so I put it back.
HW: Slaughter Disk definitely has some anti-porn connotations,
your thoughts?
CP:
I think it is all tongue in cheek; how serious can you take
a message from a campy (but well done for the budget) horror
film? :)
HW: Sorry, but I have to ask. Often in films we think of the
problems that fake blood can cause to actors, and that’s when
they’re fully clothed. You had fake blood running over, into
and out of every crevice, did that cause any problems?
CP: Bless his heart, David Quitmeyer
(his day job being in the medical profession), was very well
aware of the problem the fake blood could cause my girl parts.
The makeup artist, Catherine, and David got together and concocted
a stage blood that was vagina friendly. :)
HW: How much freedom did you have to do your own thing, was
there any improv or was the script strictly adhered to?
CP: We pretty much stuck to the
script, but David mostly left the interpretation of the dialogue
up to us. He had the visuals set in his head, but not how we
said our lines.
HW: Big fan of Horror? Name some of your favorite flicks, actors,
directors?
CP: Big fan of Hellraiser, the
only time in my life I thought going to hell might actually
be a good idea... I wanted to play with the Cenobytes. House
of 1000 Corpses was pretty damned fun. If it has vampires in
it, I have probably seen it. I love zombies too. I like the
goofy stuff like "Killer Klowns from Outer Space".
I guess I don't have specific favourites, just a fan of
blood and guts in general. Campy or classic, I'll take
it any which way it falls off the tree.
Great interview Caroline, and what can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed
ya in Slaughter Disk. I don't know that I could
have had any more resolve than poor Mike did. Hell, if there
were more corpses around who looked like Andromeda Strange,
I might just give necrophilia a try! Just make it quick eh?
Save that hammer for someone else!
